Description
Lake Alserio is a small shallow lake loceted in Northern Italy (Lombardy Region). The present trophic state is eutrophy. Between 1999 and 2002 a detailed study was carried out, in the frame of a LIFE Project, with the aim to realize a recovery intervention. Detailed data on the nutrient imputs from the catchment were collected and a plant for hypolimnetic withdrawal was built. No further intervention were done after the end of the project, without any significant improvement of the ecological quality. Within WISER all four Biological Quality Elements will be sampled.
