Description

Lake Candia is a small shallow lake located in Northern Italy (Piedmont Region). This one of the most studied lakes in Italy (since 1986 without breaks) and is among the sites belonging to the Italian Long Term Ecological Research Network. Strongly eutrophied, the lake underwent a biomanipulation experiment (1986-1990), which contribute to the decrease of its trophic status towards the actual mesotrophy. Lake Candia has been already investigated in previously EU-funded projects (Framework Programmes and LIFE Projects): within WISER all four Biological Quality Elements will be sampled.
